Hello, we are Lynne Godin and Rick Krause, owners of This is a Monarchy. We both grew up in sunny Southern California. We have three children, Brandon, Bree, and Jackee. Jackee is our website designer and also designed our logo. We have always had a love for nature and are sharing our lives with two cats, two rats, one dog, our koi fish and a turtle.
Several years ago, Rick saw an ad in the local PennySaver Newspaper that simply stated “Got Milkweed”. We both reminisced about growing up where wild native milkweed and butterflies were abundant. Both of us agreed we hadn’t seen any butterflies around in years. Out of curiosity, we called the ad and after a very heartwarming discussion about how Monarch’s are threatened and could eventually go extinct. We brought home seven plants and three caterpillars. The rest is history. That is how “This is a Monarchy” began. We have housed thousands of caterpillars in our backyard and since becoming a Monarch Way Station in 2011, we have proudly released over 10,000 Monarchs.
We would like YOU to get involved in saving this magnificent butterfly. We help to create butterfly gardens, educate children and adults alike at our butterfly encounters, local schools and garden clubs. This is a Monarchy raises and sells many different varieties of host and nectar plants so you can start your own butterfly gardens at home. We are open 7 days by appointment, so you can come and learn about this amazing butterfly and maybe take home a plant or two to start your own garden.
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope to inspire you to join us in our fight to save the Monarch Butterfly. You can help make a difference.
